PURPOSE:To correct the position of an automobile and the running locus by a simple operation on a correct road when there are two or more road paths having the same pattern of the running locus of the vehicle by displaying the road paths so that they can be identified. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 7 reads specified map data out of a CD-ROM 1. The data are plotted on a display device 10. An automobile position CM and a running locus (RTD) are displayed 10. The CPU 7 compares the pattern of the RTD with the pattern of the road in the map data and obtains the road path having the same pattern. When there is only one road path having the same pattern, the automobile position CM and the RTD are corrected to the position on said road path. When there are two or more road paths having the same pattern, the color of the first-candidate road path RD1 is changed, or the display is blinked so that the road can be readily indentified. The user judges whether the automobile is on the RD1 or not and depresses valid key 2b or an invalid key 2c. With the key 2b, the CPU 7 corrects the CM and RTD to the RD1. With the key 2c, the second-candidate road path RD2 is displayed so that it can be identified. Said operation is repeated. |
