<p>Power operated parking post apparatus comprises a base (14, 16) and a movable post (18). The base contains an electric motor (24), a drive train (26) therefor, and control apparatus (30). The post pivots relative to the base and is counterbalanced by a tension spring (58) to reduce motor torque and battery (22) power requirements. A screw-threaded drive (42) from the motor to a jacking mechanism to raise and lower the post is self-locking on de-energising the motor. A radio or infra-red frequency remote transmit/receive system permits remote control of the apparatus.</p> |
