<p>An inflatable packer for sealing an annular space (114) includes a housing (48) having an inner bore (50) and an annular inflatable bladder (24) received in the inner bore of the housing. The bladder has an inflation cavity (38) defined therein for containing an inflation fluid. The bladder has first (30) and second (32) axial ends and has radially inner (34) and outer walls (36), and is inflatable to provide a seal between the housing and an elongated cylindrical member (18), typically a piling, received through the bladder. First (26) and second (28) end rings are sealingly bonded to the first and second ends of the bladder and also sealingly attached to the housing so that a back-up seal is thereby provided against leakage of inflation fluid through the radially outer wall of the bladder. An inflation coupling (56) is attached to the radially outer wall.</p> |
