PURPOSE:To easily perform the maintenance of file environment without necessitating knowledge for a computer or a various kinds of manuals by coupling three phases; the generation of file specification, the generation of the file environment, and the maintenance of the file environment unitarily. CONSTITUTION:The specification information of a file to be used in a system is stored in a memory device 9. A required file can be defined only by designating a file name with a file definition means 1, and an unrequired file can be deleted only by designating the file name with a file deletion means 2, and file capacity can be increased only by designating the file name and capacity with a file capacity extending means 3. Furthermore, the generation of the file environment which configures one user system is executed with a file environment generating means 4, and the summary of file specification in use for one user system can be always outputted at the latest state with a file specification summary generating means 5. Thereby, it is possible to perform the maintenance of the file without necessitating expert knowledge or a various kinds of manuals.
