PURPOSE:To prevent performance from being lowered due to the touch of a finger by providing a protecting means to protect the lens surface of an optical pickup when an optical disk is mounted to a driving device or after the optical disk is taken out. CONSTITUTION:In a main body 1, a driving means 4 is provided to drive the disk a lens 5 of the optical pickup is provided and an opening part 6 is provided to irradiate the disk with an optical beam from the lens 5. At the time of reprocucing, the optical beam is passed through the opening part 6 to the surface of the CD disk and focused by the lens 5. Then, the main body is controlled to track in a radial direction according to the long diameter of the opening part 6. In such a case, the state of a cover to be opened and closed is detected by an optical pickup 7. Since the quantity of detecting light is reduced when the cover is opened, such a state is detected and the lens 5 is moved to a distant position A being separated rather than the opening part 6 while interlocking with the operation of the cover. Then, the surface of the lens 5 is protected. Samely, the lens 5 is moved to a distant position B and the surface of the lens 5 is protected. Thus, the performance of the optical pickup can be maintained. |
