PURPOSE:To improve weather resistance of an optical ROM (read-only optical disk) by covering an interface area of a reinforced glass substratre and a thin film and interfaces of thin films with a sealing layer. CONSTITUTION:The side surface of an optical recording medium having a multilayer structure is wholely covered with sealing material or otherwise, side surfaces except for the reinforced glass substrate 1 are covered with sealing material 8. Hot-melt resin or UV-curing resin or sol-gel material are used for sealing to cover the interfaces of glass substrate 1 and thin films, or interfaces of thin films. Thereby, water is prevented from intruding into the interfaces of glass substrate 1 and thin films and into interfaces of thin films. By this method, the optical recording medium having a multi-layer structure comprising several thin films formed on a reinforced glass substrate is protected from water, and this improves weather resistance of the medium. |
