<p>Antibacterial sulphonamide/aldehyde-bisulphite complexes are of formula: where n is an integer preferably 1 or 2; R1 has a valency equal to that of n and is alkyl, furfuryl, pyridinyl aryl opt. substd. by >=1 halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, NH2, p-OH, m-OH, or a polyvalent group derived from one of these substituents; R2 = H, pyrimidinyl disubstd. by alkyl, alkoxy, halogen; pyridazinyl, thiofurazanyl, thiazolyl, thiodiazolyl opt. substd. by >=1 alkyl, alkoxy or halogen Prepared by treating a sulphanilamide with 2/n moles of the aldehyde bisulphite compound of formula: at 50-105 degrees C in aqueous solution. Used for treating lymphangitis and paronychia in cattle.</p> |
