Water reactivatable glue is applied to a sheet, e.g. paper or fabric, by regularly spraying a metal salt solution onto the sheet to just well it followed by sprinkling glue powder soluble in cold water and containing an element which reacts with the metal salt. Part of the glue reacts with the solution and the rest, remaining unaltered at the surface, is treated with a little water to give a continuous glue layer which is then dried. The reaction provides adequate anchorage of the glue to the base sheet which is also rendered impermeable through part of its thickness.
|
