<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of the internal electrode of a laminated varister caused by high humidity and a plating liquid by completely burying the internal electrode in a ceramic layer and, at the same time, forming loweresistance layers on the right and left side faces of the laminated body of the varister by reducing the end faces with a reductive solution. CONSTITUTION:After internal electrodes 3 are buried in a ceramic layer 2 so that they cannot crop out on the surface of a laminated body 4, low- resistance layers 6 which alternately lead the internal electrodes 3 to external electrodes 5 are formed on both end faces of the body 4 by dipping the end face sections of the body 4 in a reductive solution and reducing the end face sections. Since the internal electrodes 3 are completely buried in the ceramic layer 2 so the the electrodes 3 cannot crop out on the surface, deterioration of the electrodes 3 can be prevented even in a high humidity atmosphere and, at the same time, a plating liquid can be prevented from coming into contact with the electrodes 3 at the time of plating. As a result, deterioration of the varister characteristics of this varistor can be prevented and the reliability to its quality can be improved.</p> |
