PURPOSE:To obtain a stable polarization characteristic without depending on the state of pigtail parts by using polarization maintaining optical fibers different form an optical fiber constituting a polarizer in the pigtail parts. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber for the polarizer is wound by a prescribed length on a cylindrical winding frame and the polarization maintaining optical fibers which are hardly subjected to a bending loss are connected respectively by welding, etc., to both sides of the optical fiber for the polarizer. The optical fibers for input/output (pigtail parts) are constituted of the polarization maintaining optical fibers which are hardly subjected to the bending loss in such a manner, by which the stable polarization characteristic is obtd. without depending on the state of the pigtail parts. |
