4-substd-3-amino-5-sulphamyl benzoic acids

Benzoic acids of formula:- ( where R = alkyl or aralkyl; A = R2O or R2S; R2 = an aromatic residue; R3 = H or Me and X = hal.) are diuretics and saluretics. I are prepd. by reacting the corresp. sulphonyl halides (II) with an amine. II are novel, and are prepd. from 3,5-dinitro-4-phenoxybenzoic acid.
