PURPOSE:To facilitate stopping and re-starting of a heat-driven engine, by constituting a belt by use of a helical wire made of a configuration memory alloy and a straight wire made of a material that is less expanded and contracted in response to heat and disposed inside the helical wire. CONSTITUTION:A belt 2, obtained by extending a straight wire 2 made of an ordinary metal through the inside of a helical wire 1 made of a configuration memory alloy, is wound around two pulleys 3, 3. Here, since the length of the straight wire 2 is equal to the length of the loop of engine path, it is turned together with the helical wire 1 during operation of the engine, so that operation of the engine is not hindered by the straight wire 2. On the other hand, since the straight wire 2 does not cause expansion and contraction while the engine is not in operation, expansion of the straight wire 2 away from the helical wire 1 can be prevented, so that the straight wire 2 can be held on the loop of engine path. Further, in an engine in which a plurality of such helical wires are arranged adjacently to each other, engine can be re-started with ease since engangling of the helical wires is not caused. |
