An amplifier comprises an inverter 9 and a bistable circuit 6 which switches over an output transistor P6 concurrently with a square wave on an input connection 1. The amplifier emits an amplified Vch square wave Vut. When the square wave has a low potential a first N- channel transistor N2 is conductive while a second N- channel transistor N3 is not conductive and prevents a current passing through a first Zener diode Z1. The output transistor P6 has its control connection P6G at high-voltage level Vch and is not conductive. The first N-channel transistor N2 passes a current which is limited by a P-channel transistor P2 through a second Zener diode Z3. In a corresponding way when the square wave has a high potential the output transistor is conductive. When the square wave changes from low to high potential the capacitance of the control connection P6G is discharged rapidly through the second N-channel transistor N3 whereupon the potential of the control connection P6G drops and a limited current starts to flow through the first Zener diode Z1, so that the output transistor P6 quickly becomes conductive. At the next change of potential the capacitance P6G is charged in a corresponding way via a transistor P5. The amplifier has low power consumption, can provide high amplification and the amplified square wave Vut has steep sides. <IMAGE> |
