PURPOSE:To more accurately and efficiently edit explanatory sentences of a source code by retrieving and displaying only explanatory sentences from a source file storage means and editing them in accordance with format information. CONSTITUTION:Format information of explanatory sentences is preliminarily stored in a format information storage means and is displayed on a display screen together with an explanatory sentence extracted from a source file storage means 7 by an explanatory sentence extracting means 6. Since this means 6 extracts only explanatory sentences from the source file storage means 7, the time and the labor required for retrieval are reduced. The explanatory sentences are edited on the display screen 3 in accordance with format information by the input operation using an input means 4. Thus, explanatory sentences of the source code are more accurately and efficiently edited by a standardized format, and omission for correction is effectively prevented.
