This protective cap 101, intended to cover the ends of aligned projecting rods, such as the prepared metal bars in reinforced concrete construction elements, consists of an envelope profile comprising wings 102 which are connected to a base 103 and being equipped with means for retention on the ends of the projecting rods. It is characterised by the fact that each wing 102 is connected to the base 103 via an externally inclined part 107, the substantially V-shaped inner zones 113 of the two parts 107 constituting a limit-stop region for the projecting rods and also a shock-absorbing means in the event of impact, each inclined part 107 continuing, opposite the said base 103, via a part 108-109 which comprises a zone 116 for clamp-type retention of the rods by means of co-operation with the same zone of the opposite wing. <IMAGE>
