PURPOSE:To judge knocking strength by providing a knocking strength calculating means calculating the knocking strength based on the vibration number and the peak value detected by a knocking signal vibration number detecting means and a knocking signal peak value detecting means. CONSTITUTION:The signal from a knocking sensor 2 is processed by a signal processing circuit 3 and converted into the knocking signal, and it is converted into the digital signal by an A/D converter 4 and read into a microcomputer 5. A knocking judging unit 5A divides the judged knock strength into 'no knock', 'small knock', 'medium knock' and 'large knock', approximate state quantities of the knock signal vibration number (n) and the knock signal peak value Vp in each knocking strength are determined in advance as evaluation functions for knocking strength. For judging the knocking strength, the knock signal vibration number (n) and the knocking signal peak value Vp are first detected, the degree of satisfaction for each evaluation function is calculated based on the detected values, and the knocking strength is digitized based on the degree of satisfaction for multiple evaluation functions. |
