PURPOSE:To compress a data volume without degradation of picture quality for vectoring of a drawing by outputting a digital picture, which is determined as a true area based on area candidate data and line data, out of digital pictures of area candidates as area data. CONSTITUTION:An area candidate is extracted from an inputted digital picture by an area candidate extracting means 11, and an area vectoring means 13 converts the digital picture of the area candidate to vectors to generate area candidate data. The inputted digital picture is converted to vectors by a line vectoring means 15 to generate line data, and it is decided based on these area candidate data and line data whether the area candidate extracted by the area candidate extracting means 11 is a true area or not; and when the area candidate is determined as a true area, it is outputted as area data. Thus, the drawing is converted to vectors without degradation in quality of the digital picture. |
