摘要 PURPOSE:To set the spark delay quantity to the optimum in response to the presence/absence of a torque converter by providing a spark delay quantity changing means increasing the spark delay quantity at the time of acceleration as compared with the case when no torque converter is provided if it is judged by a judging means that the torque converter is provided. CONSTITUTION:A control unit 31 judges whether a vehicle has a torque con verter or not by checking the operation state of a switch 41 (for identifying the presence/absence of the torque converter). First, an ACCS.A (A indicates an automatic transmission with a torque converter hereafter.) when the torque converter is provided is set larger than the initial value ACCS.M (M indicates a manual transmission hereafter.) of the spark delay quantity when no torque converter is provided. Second, the change quantity Q1 of the suction air quan tity is set to Q1.M> Q1.A, third, the spark delay quantity ACCL for reset ting is set to ACCL.M<ACCL.A respectively. Knocking is thereby prevented.
