PURPOSE:To prepare a calcium silicate compsn. giving a molded body having improved strength and hardly causing warp by blending calcium silicate represented by a specified formula with a specified amt. of a clay mineral of a specified average grain size. CONSTITUTION:A calcium silicate compsn. is prepd. by blending 100 pts.wt. calcium silicate represented by a general formula 2CaO.3SiO2.nSiO2.mH2O (where m is a positive number and n is 0.1-10) with 1-50 pts.wt. clay mineral of 0.1-50mum average grain size such as talc or pyrophyllite. Proper amts. of vinylon fibers, paraffin, dimethylpolysiloxane, etc., may further be added. When the calcium silicate compsn. is mixed with water and molded, a molded body having improved bending strength and hardly causing warp is obtd. This molded body is useful as a building material, etc. |
