In order especially to spray a product from an aircraft provided with a rear loading ramp 12, a self-contained device is used which comprises at least one tank 28, a flexible hose 48 linked to the latter and carrying at least one spray nozzle 64 at its end, and a winch 42 on which the hose 48 can be wound so as to close the ramp 12. In order to carry out spraying, the ramp is opened and the hose is unwound. The tank and the winch are mounted on separate trolleys 24, 38 provided so as to be lashed down in an aircraft which is not specially equipped to this effect. <IMAGE>
