PURPOSE:To obtain the title yarn having excellent mechanical characteristics by subjecting an organosilicon polymer having Si-N skeleton to melt spinning, irradiating the yarn with ionizing radiation in an atmosphere of an inert gas, etc., and calcining in an atmosphere of inert gas, etc. CONSTITUTION:An organosilicon polymer (e.g. polysilazane) having Si-N skeleton is subjected to melt spinning to give yarn, which is irradiated with ionizing radiation in vacuum or in an atmosphere of an inert gas and then calcined in vacuum, in an inert gas or in a mixed gas of ammonia gas and an inert gas to give the aimed yarn having low oxygen content free from reduction in strength even at high temperature of >=1,300 deg.C. |
