A blood-collection syringe has a body 10 which contains a fixed plug of filter material 11 which separates blood cells from plasma or serum without the need for centrifugation. The filter housing is removable, allowing the remainder of the syringe to serve, when upright and capped, as the storage container for plasma (when anticoagulant is incorporated into the filter matrix) or serum. An adhesive label 13 on the outer surface of the syringe is used for patient identification. <IMAGE> |
