<p>A flat bed knitting machine is provided having a pair of yarn support racks on opposite sides of the knitting section of its needle bed. Each support rack has a plurality of holders each adapted to detachably hold one of a plurality of yarns. Each yarn has a pair of associated holders with one holder being positioned in each support rack. The holders are individually actuatable between transfer and withdrawn positions. Control means are provided to actuate the folders and move the carriage back and forth in response to stored information in order to preset the yarns into predetermined initial positions that are desired to commence knitting.</p> |
