摘要 PURPOSE:To reduce generation of hydrogen gas even when the Hg content is low, by using Pb in the amalgam with Hg-In-Pb for a neg. electrode active substance, and using Pb in the powder of Zn-Pb-Al alloy for the remaining parts. CONSTITUTION:A neg. electrode active substance according to the present invention is obtained by amalgamating the powder of Zn-Pb-Al alloy with amalgam with Hg. In, and Pb, and the obtained powder of amalgamated Zn alloy contains 0.005-0.5wt.% Pb, 0.001-0.03wt.% Al, 0.005-0.2wt.% In, and 0.01-1.0wt.% Hg. The Pb portion in 0.005-0.03wt.% is used to the amalgam, while the rest shall be contained in the powder of Zn-Pb-Al alloy. The neg. electrode active substance thus obtained contains Hg in 0.01-1.0wt.%, and this low degree of amalgamation reduces hydrogen gas generation in the battery to a great extent, wherein also abnormal discharge is well prevented.
