PURPOSE:To prevent unnecessary line occupation by transmitting maintenance information data to a centralized controller when a communication line is empty to inhibit a copying operation at a previously set date. CONSTITUTION:An on-line controller 30 periodically confirms connection to each copy data controller 20. Unless an answer signal is received within three sec in response to three processing mode request signals, that is interpreted to communication failure to shift to a next channel. The controller 30 instructs a modem to connect a center controller 50 through a line. In order to switch the action mode of the controller 20 to a communication mode, the controller 50 sends a mode confirmation signal to the controller 30. When a copying machine 10 generates a jam, a corresponding jam counter is incremented to send an alarm issuing request signal to the controller 30. Thus, unnecessary line occupation can be prevented. |
