PURPOSE:To obtain the title inorganic fiber which can tightly bind with a matrix resin and can give a interface capable of giving stress relaxation between the matrix resin and the fiber by surface-coating an inorganic fiber with a specified coupling agent and a specified diene polymer. CONSTITUTION:An inorganic fiber is surface-coated with a coupling agent having a functional group bondable with the unsaturated double bond of a diene polymer selected from among a vinyl, a styrene, a mercapto and an acrylic [e.g. N-beta-(N-vinylbenzylaminoethyl-N-gamma-(vinylbenzyl)-gamma- aminopropyltrimethoxysilane] and a diene polymer having a Tg <=0 deg.C, residual unsaturated double bonds in the molecule, and a gel fraction <=5% (e.g. polybutadiene latex). |
