摘要 <p>Preparation of a radical cation salt of formula: (Ar2).&lt;+&gt;X&lt;-&gt; in which Ar is an optionally substituted aromatic hydrocarbon and X&lt;-&gt; is an anion chosen from AsF6&lt;-&gt;, SbF6&lt;-&gt;, ClO4&lt;-&gt;, PF6&lt;-&gt;, BF4&lt;-&gt; and (BC6H5)4&lt;-&gt; by electrochemical reaction of a solution of Ar in an organic solvent with a quaternary ammonium salt containing the anion X&lt;-&gt;. The organic solvent is an alkyl formate such as methyl or ethyl formate. &lt;??&gt;The radical cation salt can be employed in an electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) magnetometer which comprises a tube (21) containing this salt (27) and a material capable of absorbing water, consisting, for example, of particles of molecular sieve (23) mixed with alumina powder (25). &lt;IMAGE&gt; </p>
