PURPOSE:To improve luminous efficiency without color separation and luminance irregularity by lighting a high voltage discharge lamp with alternating current and applying an alternating magnetic field with the same frequency as alternating output from a lighting system perpendicularly to an arc. CONSTITUTION:A high voltage discharge lamp 10 is lighted using an alternating current power source 8 and a magnetic field applying part 12 to apply an alternating magnetic field with the same frequency as an alternating output of a lighting system 9 perpendicularly to arc between electrodes of the high voltage discharge lamp 10 is installed. By this, most quantity of light radiated from the high voltage discharge lamp 10 can be led to an outgoing optical system by ON-OFF of the magnetic field. By this method, two kinds of beams can be taking out of one lamp and luminous efficiency is increased without color separation along with an axis of a luminescent tube and luminance irregularity. |
