PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF AROMATIC-1,4-OXZEPINONES AND THIONES A process for the preparation of 1,4-oxazepinones and thiones having the formula: wherein A is an optionally substituted aromatic ring selected from benzene, naphthalene, quinoline or pyridine; n is 1 to 3; Z is an amino radical; R is hydrogen, loweralkyl, cycloalkyl or optionally substituted phenylloweralkyl; and R4 and R5 are hydrogen and loweralkyl starting from chloroaromatic carboxylates and alkanolamines is disclosed. New ether and carboxamide intermediate compounds of the process described above having the formulas: and wherein A, n, Z, R, R4 and R5 have the meanings given above, and X is halogen are also disclosed. |
