PURPOSE:To more improve restriction performance of a crew by forming a shape of an air bag, when it is inflated, in such a manner that a front surface of the bag is restricted along a front glass while a rear end lower part of the bag rushes between a rear face of an instrument panel and the crew in an assistant driver's seat. CONSTITUTION:An air bag device 3 is installed in the upper part center in a location opposed to an assistant driver's seat 2 of an instrument panel 1. The air bag device 3 is provided with a retainer case 6 opened to an upper surface of the panel 1, air bag 9 stored in a folded condition in the inside of this retainer case 6 and a gas generator 8 which injects gas in the air bag 9 to inflate it to be spread when a vehicle is in collision. Here the air bag 9 is formed in a shape, when it is inflated, such that a front surface is restricted along a front glass 7 while a rear end lower part rushes between a rear surface 1a of the instrument panel 1 and a belly part of a crew M in the assistant driver's seat 2. In this way, restriction performance of the crew M by the air bag 9 is improved. |
