PURPOSE:To provide an agent for suppressing proliferation of AIDS virus, containing glycyrrhizin existing in Glycyrrhiza glabra and the other subsidiary components of Glycyrrhiza glabra and exhibiting synergistic excellent effect. CONSTITUTION:The objective agent contains glycyrrhizin of formula IV in combination with one or more compounds selected from glycycoumarin of formula I, licochalcone A of formula II and isolicoflavonol of formula III. The above compounds can be produced by purifying extract of Glycyrrhiza glabra. For example, glycycoumarin can be produced by defatting Glycyrrhiza glabra L. var. glandnlifera with hexane, extracting with ethyl acetate, distilling out the solvent from the obtained extract by an evaporator and purifying the obtained crude crystal by silica gel column chromatography using a chloroform/methanol solvent. |
