PURPOSE:To ensure prevention of sudden change of vehicle action and the safety of running of high speed turn by using a predetermined control car speed as the car speed information, when an input car speed is in failure, while determining a target auxiliary steering amount which obtains the characteristic in an under steering side from when the input car speed is normal. CONSTITUTION:A front wheel steering angle is detected in a means (a), while a car speed is detected in a means (b). A predetermined change limit is given to an input car speed from the means (b), and a control car speed is set in a means (c). While, when the input car speed has a difference not less than a predetermined amount from the control speed, abnormality of the input car speed is detected in a means (d). Further auxiliary steering is controlled by a means (e) respectively so as to determine a target auxiliary steering amount for obtaining the optimum steering characteristic at the time of turning, when the input car speed is normal, further so as to determine a target auxiliary steering amount for obtaining the characteristic in an understeering side from when the input car speed is normal being based on a front wheel steering angle and the control car speed when the input car speed is abnormal. |
