A socket (4) conforming to the four-tube standard is fixed to the end of a flexible hose serving a source of compressed air, water and electric current. Air supply and exhaust tubes (16,17) a water tube (18) and a pulsatile air tube (19) are arranged conventionally. Electrical contacts (20,21) adjacent to an axis of symmetry (y-y') supply lamp current, and outer contacts (22,23) cater for other electrical requirements of non-standard surgical tools. USE/ADVANTAGE - A universal coupler compatible with tools incorporating air turbines, electric motors or piezoelectric vibrators. Removes the inconvenience of a multiplicity of different couplers.
