PURPOSE:To detect carbon monoxide or hydrogen contained in an atmosphere by comparing a flat region generated by first gas to be measured with a flat region generated by second gas to be measured. CONSTITUTION:A constant monitoring voltage X as a shown with a dashed line is applied in an applied voltage region X. When the constant monitoring voltage X is applied, gas to be measured which does not contain steam and reducing gas is measured with the detected limit current value. At this time whether the value is larger than a reference limit current value Ic or not is judged. That is, when the value is large, it can be judged that carbon dioxide is contained in the gas to be measured containing the steam. When the value is smaller, it can be judged that the carbon dioxide is not present and only the steam is present. In this way, the carbon dioxide or the hydrogen contained in the atmosphere can be detected. |
