Cleaning and prepn. of hoed crops - by continuous process in which part of process water is constantly removed and replaced by similar quantity of fresh water

In a conventional batch process for prepn. of hoed crops, the crops pass through a water-filled channel to a sepn. unit, where fine particles are removed. All the water used is collected in a large separator and after removal of the solid particles is returned to the channel. An improved continuous process is described in which part of the water is constantly exchanged for new water. The process water does not have to spend time in a separator therefore a continuous process using less water is realised. USE/ADVANTAGE - For cleaning and prepg. potatoes, carrots, celery, onions and similar vegetables. Solid matter is easily removed from the vegetables, the process is continuous and uses less water.
