Injecting preserving medium into wood - involves drilling holes and inserting sealing device with expansible tube

The wooden structural member is impregnated with a preserving medium by injecting the medium into holes (2) drilled in the structural member (3). The medium is injected by means of a fitting (6) which has an attached pipe (8) with a central bore (19). The pipe (8) is sealed in the hole (2) by means of a flexible tube (11) which encloses the pipe. This tube is radially expanded by injecting a liq. at high pressure into the space between the pipe (8) and tube (11). The liq. is preferably the preserving medium. USE - Preserving wooden structures.
