INSTALLATION FOR INVERTED HIDDEN-ARC WELDING

An installation for inverted hidden-arc welding comprises a hingedly-mounted rotatable bunker (9) inside which is located a bowl (11) with its upper part open and facing the joint to be welded, connected to a feeder for supplying flux (10) to it. The bunker (9) is provided with a controlled power drive (28) for its rotation about an axle (8) on which it is mounted. Through the bowl (11) passes the welding tip (20), and a forming device (23) is mounted on a suspension with the possibility of tilting in the longitudinal and transverse planes. The installation further comprises a regulator of the flux cushion pressure, for which purpose is used said controlled power drive (28) for rotation of the bunker, to the circuit of which are connected, through a comparison unit (31), a pick-up (29) of the flux pressure in the bunker, which is located in the bowl (11) essentially at the level of its open upper part along its longitudinal axis and near the tip (20), and a pick-up (30) of the height of thickening of the lower side of the weld joint (17) mounted on the forming device (23) near its rear end-face and oriented along the longitudinal axis of the forming device (23). The invention may be used for welding longitudinal and curved annular joints.
