A power installation for a vehicle has a main engine (1) connected to the power take-off shaft (5) of the vehicle and a subsidiary engine (6) mounted coaxially to the main engine and connected by its shaft to the shaft (2) of the main engine (1) through a controlled clutch (8) having, respectively, a driving and a driven part (9, 10). The power installation further comprises an element (11) for the control of the clutch (8), a system (12) for starting the main engine (1), a system (13) for cooling the power installation and an exhaust gas discharging system. According to the invention the controlled clutch (8) has two consecutively functioning wedge-type mechanisms providing for the possibility of transferring the torsional moment both from the main engine (1) to the subsidiary one for starting the latter and, other way round, from the subsidiary engine (6) to the main one for increasing the output of the power installation. The power installation is intended, preferably, for use in automobile transport. |
