PURPOSE:To obtain a reader with a low noise and high efficiency by injecting an excitation signal to a semiconductor laser via a resistor with a resistance value of double the differential resistance value of the semiconductor laser. CONSTITUTION:The semiconductor laser is current-driven via a series resistor R with the resistance value >= double the differential resistance value of it. The axis of obscissa of chart shows a pump rate, and it is shown as a value in which one is subtracted from a ratio of driving current I to the threshold current Ith of the semiconductor laser, and the axis of ordinate shows a strength noise. It is recognized from the chart that the strength noise is set less than a shot noise in an area where the pump rate is sufficiently larger than an oscillation threshold value. It shows the feature of the current-driven semiconductor laser with large quantum efficiency by directly connecting the resistor with the resistance value >= double the differential resistance value of the semiconductor, that is never realized in another laser. |
