In a coffee brewing process that produces liquid coffee for human consumption, the ground coffee that is used therein is automatically transported through the coffee brewing process by the use of a coffee/water slurry mixture. The process comprises the sequential steps of forming a ground coffee and water slurry, transporting the slurry to a brewing chamber, adding a quantity of brewing water to the brewing chamber, and thereafter brewing liquid coffee at the brewing chamber. Grinding of a quantity of dry coffee beans is performed prior to forming the coffee/water slurry. Disposal of spent ground coffee takes place after the brewing step has been completed, again using a coffee/water slurry. The brewing chamber may be an espresso brewing chamber wherein brewing water is added under pressure, or a drip-brew brewing chamber may be provided. |
