HONEYCOMBFORM METALLIC CATALYST CARRIER

PURPOSE: To easily manufacture a honeycomb metallic catalyst carrier without damaging it by coupling the catalyst carrier with a bulkhead by a swollen part provided on an outer skin pipe of the metallic catalyst carrier. CONSTITUTION: An annular swollen part 3 is formed on an outer skin pipe 2 of a catalyst carrier 1. A small opening 5 which is larger than the outer skin pipe 2 and smaller than the swollen part 3 is provided in a bulkhead 4 on which the catalyst carrier 1 is mounted. The bulkhead 4 and an outer range of the swollen part 3 are coupled with each other by an annular welding joint 6 and individual welding points. Since an intermediate chamber 7 is generated between the outer range of the swollen part and the catalyst carrier 1, the catalyst carrier 1 is not damaged during the welding coupling. The catalyst carrier can be easily incorporated without damaging the service life by the incorporating process.
