The float which is designed as an anti-evaporation cover forming a protective barrier layer for the surfaces of liquids in containers is designed as a substantially circular hollow or solid body wherein in the middle plane of the float there is a circumferential flange-like edge strip (2) which extends in the plane of the centre plane. The edge strip (2) pref. lies at a distance above the fluid e surface layer. The width of the edge strip (2) is pref. a quarter of the diameter of the hollow body (1). ADVANTAGE - Even the areas between adjoining floats can now be safely covered.
