<p>The subject methods and compositions are directed to regulating the growth and differentiation of microorganisms. In particular, disclosed is the DNA sequence for a regulatory gene controlling growth and development of the fungus Aspergillus nidulans and the amino acid sequence for the protein encoded by the gene. Also disclosed is an A. nidulans strain that permits inducible transcription of the gene in vegetative cells. A method is presented for the mis-scheduled expression of the gene which induces abortive differentiation.</p> |
