<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the forgery of a prepaid card by providing a code recording layer recording a discrimination code discriminable by the reflected rays of infrared rays on a magnetic recording layer recording magnetic data. CONSTITUTION:An infrared reflecting layer 14 having a predetermined thickness is arranged on a magnetic recording layer 13 and a bar code 15 absorbing infrared rays is arranged on said reflecting layer 14. When a prepaid card 11 is inserted under the infrared irradiation head 21 of a reader/writer, infrared rays of a predetermined wavelength are emitted to the surface of the card 11 from a light emitting diode 22. Said irradiation rays are absorbed by the bar code 15 and reflected by the reflecting layer 14 to be detected by the photodetector 23 of the head 21 and a discrimination code is read to discriminate the prepaid card 11 and it is checked whether there is the bar code and, when said code is present, it is checked whether the data of the bar code is correct. Thereafter, magnetic data is read by the reader and the magnetic data of the magnetic recording layer 13 is renewed corresponding to used quantity by the writer and rewritten to record the new balance on the recording layer 13.</p> |
