<p>PURPOSE:To record variable information in a relatively short variable information recording area to minimize the generation of a dead space by providing the variable information recording area along a relatively short first edge and a fixed information recording area along a second edge longer than the first edge on an information recording medium. CONSTITUTION:On the top surface of a card 150, a recording area to be recorded with variable information the content of which changes subsequent to the use of the card to be updated to new information is provided in a mark indication field 155, and a fixed information recording area recorded with fixed information the content of which is not varied is formed in mark fields 153, 154. By inserting the card 150 into a card reader/writer 1, the vertical mark string mark fields are read by a left vertical mark string read sensor 4 and a right vertical mark string read sensor 5, and the horizontal mark string mark field is read by a horizontal mark string read sensor 70. Required predetermined information is written on the second line of the horizontal mark string mark field by a thermal head 71. Furthermore, by inserting the card to the card reader/writer 1 for the second use of the card, written information is similarly read, and required information is written on the third line.</p> |
