The invention relates to methods of metal processing by cutting. A method of making a tubular element with transverse ribs for a heat exchanger consists in that the cutting tool is rotated around the axis of a chuck (3) parallel to the axis (4) of the tubular blank (1) simultaneously with the rotation of the tubular blank (1) so that the surface of revolution circumscribed by the cutting edge of the cutting tool (2) has radii exceeding the radius of the surface of revolution of the tubular blank (1) and intersects with the latter. During rotation, a layer of metal is undercut with the cutting tool (2) and simultaneously bent out to form the rows of transverse ribs (8). The invention may be used in electronic, electrotechnical and electric power industries.
