Two normally stable liqs. form the fuel and oxidiser which when brought into contact form the propellent for a large calibre projectile. Inside a housing (2) ending in the combustion chamber (49) are the bases of three concentrically disposed pistons (12,18,23) axially mobile relative to each other, and with an axial firing pin at the centre of the innermost piston (23). Two annular charge chambers (21,25) formed by the pistons for the two non-hypergolic diergols components are axially closable by a common base (8) with an external screw-thread adjustably engaging the housing cavity. Spring-operated plate valves control injection of propellant components from supply tanks, and have annular elements braking piston movement ahead of end-stops. USE - For artillery or mortars, using diergols with good safety factor in separate form and high energy content when combined.
