A noise damping mat (1) consists of an elastic material. On the upper side is a layer (2) of a different material while on the underside projections (4) are provided. The upper layer (2) consists of a multi-axial knitted layer with a chain-like structure which is mfd. in a water and moisture resistant synthetic fibre, typically polyester or polyamide. USE/ADVANTAGE - Forms a noise damping underlay for stone ballast. The tensile strength and stiffness of the mat can be easily adapted to suit conditions by varying the multi-axis layer structure.
