The water permeable covering for embankment reinforcement consists of sand retaining filter mats. The latter are covered with moulded bricks fixed into each other at their connection. These bricks have through openings. This water permeable covering is readily placed and it is able to accommodate horizontal and vertical settlement movements without loosing connection between the bricks. The moulded brick has hooked shaped projections (13) and sockets (13a). Alternately the bricks also have projecting lugs which engage with matching seats in the adjacent brick. The lugs and seats have trapezoidal or rounded cross sections.
