The railway wagon is fitted with bogies which have wheels which can be adjusted to suit tracks of different gauge widths. The bogie is fitted with rims brakes which act directly on the wheel rims. The bogie is also fitted with disc brakes which act on discs fitted to the bogie axle. The bogie frame (1) is mounted on springs which are in turn supported on the wheel bearing housings which can slide vertically guides in the bogie frame. When the load on the wagon exceeds a defined limit the main supporting springs are compressed so that the bearing housing (14) moves relative to the bogie frame and pushes a pressure upwards and actuates a lever. This lever actuates a mechanism (30) which brings the disc brake into operation. USE - Railway wagons.
